I Let an AI Agent Migrate My Entire Blog
How Claude Code used RAG-powered exploration to migrate my blog from Gatsby to Astro in under 5 minutes. The future of coding is here.
I just mass-migrated this blog from Gatsby to Astro.
Plot twist: I didn’t write a single migration script. An AI agent did it all.
The Problem
Old blog: src/pages/2017-08-26-post-name/index.md
New blog: src/content/blog/post-name.md
Different folder structure. Different frontmatter schema. Template boilerplate everywhere. 10+ posts to migrate.
Sounds like a weekend project, right?
What Actually Happened
I opened Claude Code and said:
“Move the blogs from my old Gatsby repo to this new Astro blog.”
Then I watched the magic unfold.
Step 1: The Agent Explored Both Codebases
No assumptions. No hallucinations. Pure RAG-powered reconnaissance.
The agent spawned sub-agents that scanned both repos simultaneously—reading actual files, parsing real schemas, understanding ground truth.
It knew my Gatsby frontmatter used
dateandpath. It knew Astro expectedpubDateanddescription. It figured this out by reading my code, not guessing.

Why This Blew My Mind
The RAG approach meant the agent worked with my actual codebase. It caught stuff I would’ve missed:
